Barista Basics - Accreditation

BARISTA BASICS Coffee Academy is the only independent training facility in Australia to have been fully audited by TAFE. Our teachers have Vocational and Cert IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor qualifications and our course teaches people exactly what is necessary (and a lot more!) to be competent in making coffee.

To gain the TAFE qualification, participants must complete our Master Barista course.

This means doing 5 hours of training.

By completing both courses, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment that relates to the national competency Prepare and serve espresso coffee. In other words, participants receive an actual TAFE certificate.

They also recieve a TAFE Transcript of Academic Record.

Many barista schools have been existing in Australia and advertising that they are “accredited.” These “backyard” barista schools have been hoodwinking the public into believing that they have been accredited by some higher learning institution. More often than not in fact the only people who have accredited their courses are themselves! These operators have not been audited by TAFE and are therefore not necessarily teaching you in accordance with the industry standard established by SITHFAB012A, they are not issuing nationally recognised certificates and their instructors are not professional trainers who have a qualification that is recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework. BARISTA BASICS Coffee Academy has been working with TAFE NSW - Western Institute for the past four years to ensure that our course in completely in line with SITHFAB012A Prepare and serve espresso coffee – the industry standard in espresso making.
