Barista Basics - Training Value Package

Home > Coffee Courses

Below are the two courses that we operate.

Barista Basics Mk1 - 3hrs $120.00

Barista Basics is $120 and is 3 hours in duration.

It is a 3-hour barista experience that actually teaches you how to identify all the key variables that go into making espresso-based coffee then moves on to instruct you on putting all of those variables together at speed to make excellent finished coffees.

Barista Basics has evolved over the last 5 years. What started as a "learn to froth, adjust the grind and make coffee" course has now extended well beyond that into a power session that combines cutting-edge barista techniques with expert knowledge and advice.

Our aim is simple: to teach espresso using the national framework whilst maintaining the Italian espresso roots.

Whether you are looking for an immediate job or simply searching for espresso excellence, this course is for you. We have developed this course in conjunction with representatives from the coffee industry, the TAFE system and with the State Government's Nationally Recognised Training system.

What are the key variables that go into making espresso-based coffee that you learn about in this class?

Click here to find out why the Barista Basics certificate is the most highly regarded in Australia

What Barista Basics is:

  • intensive and hands-on
  • jam-packed with information
  • an “experience”
  • a package integrating training and knowledge which culminates in a nationally recognised certificate
  • a course conducted by some of the finest talent in the espresso industry today

What Barista Basics is not:

  • a cruisy, froth-and-giggle course that merely scratches the surface on only the basics (you will find plenty of CBD coffee school starter courses that specialise in that)

Other information:

Who the course will appeal to

More than just the basics, this course is designed for the following people:

  • people who have no experience yet need firstly a skill and secondly a government-accredited barista certificate to help them get a job
  • people who have used an espresso machine previously but who lack proper instruction on the finer aspects of making coffee
  • people who love coffee and want to learn more about it (including how it is grown, cultivated, roasted and blended) and
  • people who want to know why most coffees they buy are terrible yet some are fantastic. In other words - what are the true secrets to being a gun barista?

What you will get upon completion

No “lining up” to wait for machines

This means that everybody gets their own equipment to use and there is no sharing with anyone else in the class. Please call our office on 1300 366 218 to inform them prior to your course date if you are bringing along an interpreter. As our courses are extremely practical, students with literacy and numeracy issues will not be disadvantaged. For further elaboration please call us on 1300 366 218.

Assessment

Students will be assessed by trainers with the relevant qualifications as set down by the AQTF 2007 Essential Standards for Registration. MASTER BARISTA - MkI & MkII - 5 hrs $250.00

Master Barista is $250 and is 5 hours in duration.

It results in a nationally and internationally recognised TAFE qualification. It is a 5-hour barista experience that starts from the basics and culminates in two hours of non-stop coffee-making focusing on milk texturing and coffee art. We were the first people in the world to conduct coffee art courses so you will learn all the cutting-edge tricks using etching and freepouring techniques.

Master Barista can be completed in one day or split over separate days (3 hours one day, 2 hours on another). It is the ultimate power session taught by trained Cert IV professionals. Our teacher/student ratio is unrivalled in the training business. We have unlimited milk and coffee, do not recycle old milk and coffee and do not waste students' time getting them to watch copious videos during the course or stack dishwashers. We present using proper live demonstrations.

Master Barista encapsulates our Barista Basics course (see course outline above) plus an intense 2-hour coffee art experience that involves looking at etching, fudge art and free-pouring. We have developed this course in conjunction with representatives from the coffee industry, the TAFE system and with the Australian Government's Nationally Recognised Training system.
